Victoria’s VGCCC appoints Annette Kimmitt as CEO

Australia.- The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) has announced that Annette Kimmitt has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer. Kimmitt, who was CEO and managing partner of Australia’s largest law firm, MinterEllison, between October 2018 to March 2021, will start as CEO on March 21, replacing Scott May.

Kimmitt has also worked as global growth markets leader at multinational consultancy Ernst & Young. In January 2021, she became a non-executive director, chairman of the audit and risk committee and a member of the investment committee of investment firm Mirrabooka Investments Ltd. She became a non-executive director of Trawalla Group in May 2021.

She is also a board member of the Melbourne Business School, chairing the finance, risk and audit courses.

Fran Thorn, VGCCC chair, said: “Her background in the business world and her experience in audit and risk management, in particular, will be a huge asset to our regulation of the gambling and liquor industries and ensuring harm minimisation.”

He added: “Scott has shown great leadership during what has been a very busy time for the VGCCC, including overseeing the work to separate the regulation of gambling and liquor and our ongoing response to the pandemic.”
