Uttar Pradesh to join call for national framework on online gaming in India
India’s most populous state wants a unified national approach to online games involving real money.
India.- Uttar Pradesh, India’s largest state by population, is backing calls for a nationwide policy on online gaming apps. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak has said that the state assembly will consider a resolution in its upcoming session to urge central government to develop a nationwide law.
The Surajya Abhiyan movement has been pushing for sucha a move States including Assam, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, have introduced measures on online gaming but varying approaches have led to calls for a national standard.
India’s constitution, under Article 252, allows parliament to legislate on state matters if at least two states request it. The group is engaging with additional states to strengthen this collaborative effort.
