Three new non-executive directors have received regulatory approval to join SkyCity’s board.

New Zealand.- SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced that Silvana Schenone, Julian Cook and Chad Barton have joined its board.

Silvana Schenone served previously as a board member of the New Zealand Takeovers Panel. She is recognised for her commercial acumen and negotiation skills and as a thought leader on corporate governance issues.

Julian Cook was the former CEO of Summerset Group Holdings Limited. Before that, he was CFO of the company. He holds a Masters in Finance from Victoria University and a Masters of Science from the University of Waikato.

Before joining SkyCity, Cook was a member of the Executive Committee for the New Zealand Retirement Villages Association.

Chad Barton was CFO of The Star Entertainment Group Limited from 2014 to 2019. Before that, he was chief financial officer of Australia and New Zealand business of Electronic Data Systems from 2006 to 2009.

Barton is also known for having established Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia, which pushes for gender equity and the development and success of women in the gaming industry. 

SkyCity is among the casino operators currently being investigated by the national financial crimes watchdog AUSTRAC due to potential non-compliance with AML rules.

SkyCity confirmed that AUSTRAC is investigating a compliance assessment on how the company managed high-risk and politically exposed customers between July 2015 and June 2016 and between July 2018 and June 2019.
