NagaWorld remains open despite Covid-19 spike

The casino has sustained activity thanks to its strong domestic customer base, is chairman says.

Cambodia.- The NagaWorld complex will remain open despite the government’s tightening of restrictions due to an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

The Cambodian government has imposed a mandatory 14-day quarantine for visitors entering the country and has suspended its sponsoring program for investors, businessman and technicians to enter Cambodia.

As of Sunday, 359 Covid-10 cases were recorded in the country, many of them linked to a single event on November 28, when the first community transmitted case was reported.

Tim McNally, chairman of NagaCorp, told GGRAsia that NagaWorld will remain fully operational and has not been given any orders to cease or restrict its operations.

He said current activities relied on a strong domestic market, which was generating decent results thanks. In October the company reported results for August-September at 97 per cent of the mass market revenue seen in the same period in 2019.

NagaWorld is a complex run by Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp, which has a monopoly on gaming near the capital Phnom Penh.
