Macau received nearly 21 million visitors in the first half of the year, police say

Visitor arrivals increased 9 per cent compared to January-June 2025.

Macau.- The Public Security Police Force has reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau reached 20.94 million in the first half of the year. That’s a rise of round 9 per cent from 19.22 million visitors in the January-June period of 2025.

The preliminary numbers were discussed during a community consultative committee meeting focused on improving passenger flow at Macau’s border checkpoints. Police previously noted that visitor arrivals surpassed 20 million on June 20, 18 days earlier than in 2025. It’s estimated that there were around 2.80 million visitor in June.

Macau’s land crossings to Zhuhai in the neighbouring Chinese-mainland province of Guangdong continue to handle the majority of travellers entering the city. The police did not provide a detailed breakdown of where visitors came from in June, but mainland China has tended to account for more than 70 per cent of arrivals.

The Chinese New Year holiday in February and the Labour Day holiday period in May contributed to the strong visitor numbers during the first half of the year. Official figures from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) show 18.14 million visitor arrivals between January and May, representing an 11.1 per cent increase year-on-year.
