Hong Kong’s five-year tourism plan includes focus on horseracing tourism
The strategy also targets major sporting and cultural events, cruise tourism and new leisure experiences.
Hong Kong.- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has launched its first Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development. Covering 2026-2030, the plan mentions the promotion of new tourism experiences, including thematic travel, city-walking routes and horseracing tourism, while promoting Hong Kong’s culinary offerings and annual flagship events.
The government also plans to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as the “Events Capital of Asia” by promoting major international events that combine sports and culture. The blueprint also highlights the continued development of major attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park. It also seeks to strengthen the city’s role as an international cruise hub and develop island-hopping tours and water sports activities.
Chief Executive John Lee said the plan will focus on economic development, social well-being and closer integration with China’s national development strategies.
