Singapore records 1.61m visitor arrivals in August
The January-August visitor total reached 11.43 million.
Singapore.- The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has reported 1.61 million international visitor arrivals during August, down 0.3 per cent from a year earlier and 1.2 per cent from July. Overnight visitors accounted for 1.24 million of the total, representing a 2.2 per cent year-on-year decline despite a nearly 6 per cent increase from July. The data showed a shorter average stay among international visitors, with the figure falling 4.2 per cent year on year to 3.46 days in August.
Mainland China remained Singapore’s biggest visitor market, accounting for 435,440 arrivals. Chinese visitor numbers increased 9.4 per cent from a year earlier. Indonesia was the second-largest market with 161,680 arrivals, followed by Malaysia with 94,200, Japan with 92,960 and India with 87,770. Australia ranked sixth with 86,570 arrivals. South Korea, the US, the Philippines, Taiwan and the UK each contributed more than 50,000 visitors during the month.
Among the five largest markets, visitors from India had the longest average stay at 5.95 days. Chinese visitors stayed for an average of 3.71 days, while the overall average across international markets was 3.46 days.
Singapore’s January-August international arrivals reached 11.43 million, down 1.7 per cent from the same period in 2025. Overnight visitors accounted for 8.37 million, or 73.2 per cent of the total, after falling 3.2 per cent year on year. The average length of stay for the first eight months was 3.43 days, down 2.8 per cent from a year earlier.
The year-to-date figure puts Singapore at about 67.2 per cent of the lower end of STB’s 2026 target of 17 million to 18 million international visitor arrivals. STB announced the forecast in February, compared with 16.9 million international visitor arrivals recorded in 2025.
