Kangwon Land extends Coronavirus closure
Casino operator has also revised its projected loss for the shut-down period to KRW22 billion
South Korea.- Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where locals are permitted to gamble, will remain closed until February 29 due to Coronavirus.
The casino operator originally closed on Sunday and then extended the closure to Wednesday, February 26. The casino has now confirmed it will remain shut until Saturday.
The closure is only the second time the casino has shut its doors to the public in its history. It previously closed for one day in 2012 to check security cameras following a security breach.
The company has also revised its projected loss for the closure period and says it now expects a loss of KRW22 billion (US$18.1 million).
South Korea is one of the most affected countries by Covid-19. Eleven people have died from the outbreak and more than 1,500 have been infected with the virus.
