GKL casino sales down 98% in February

The South Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos registered KRW507m (US$448,000) in sales in February

South Korea.- Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) saw casino sales fall by 98.8 per cent year-on-year to KRW507m (US$448,000) in February.

In the same month last year before the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the casino operator recorded casino sales of KRW43.96bn (US$38.9m).

All of its three of its casinos were temporarily closed for periods in 2020. The Seven Luck Casino Busan Lotte in Busan reopened last month but its two Seoul casinos will remain closed until at least March 15.

As a result the company reported no turnover at all for January and turnover from the Busan casino down 98.7 per cent year-on-year to KRW3.65bn (US$3.2m) in February.
