Galaxy donates another US$9.4m to Coronavirus fight
Gaming giant makes another multi-million donation to the Chinese government as part of wider efforts to combat Covid-19.
Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has donated close to US$10million (MOP$75million) to mainland China to help with its fight against Coronavirus.
The donation was made by the Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation branch, with the money going directly to the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR.
The aim of the new donation is to provide care for healthcare workers, helping with public health promotion and supporting the medical and scientific research related to Covid-19.
Galaxy Chairman, Lui Che Woo, said: “As a Chinese enterprise, GEG endeavours to support our country in its related efforts against the epidemic.
“With the virus being effectively controlled in mainland China by its implementation of various prevention measures, their successful experience serves as a valuable lesson for other countries battling with Covid-19.
“We hope to further contribute to this fight against the epidemic by subsidising related institutions and specialists in mainland China to carry out the relevant scientific and medical research.”
The sizeable donation follows previous multi-million contributions from GEG to other causes in the fight against Coronavirus, including one million masks to the Macau SAR, Zhuhai City and Hengqin New Area governments.
The casino and hotel operator also has been assisting staff at its own venues with sanitisation measures.
