Australian sports betting firm to set foot in US

PlayUp has confirmed its intention to step into every US state that has legalised online sports betting.

Australia.- Sports betting operator PlayUp has confirmed its intention to enter the US market soon and to gain a presence in every state that has made online sports betting legal.

CEO Daniel Simic has said he believes the US will become the world’s biggest legal sports betting market worth about US$17 billion a year now that the national ban on sports betting has been lifted.

The Australian firm, which last year acquired five sports betting platforms in the US, has revealed that it has already guaranteed itself access to lucrative markets in several jurisdictions across the US already.

To oversee the expansion PlayUp has designated former Sportsradar vicepresident Laila Mintas as CEO of the US operations.

The group currently offers betting options in esports, horse racing and fantasy sports in some markets. As online sports betting continues to gain momentum in Australia, PlayUp has about 300,000 users in Australia and New Zealand.
