Ghana’s National Lottery Authority sets deadline for lotto agent registration under “No sticker, no sales” rule

National Lottery Authority warns agents they must register and obtain an official sticker by the end of May or be barred from selling lottery products, with a GHS250 compliance fee required.

Ghana.- Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has set a stringent deadline of May 31 for lotto agents to complete mandatory registration, warning that those who fail to comply will be unable to sell lottery products under a strict “No sticker, no sales” enforcement policy.

The reminder follows the regulator’s recent announcement introducing compulsory registration for agents and writers operating under NLA-licensed private lotto operators. The initiative, launched on April 1, is being implemented in partnership with the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG) as part of efforts to formalise Ghana’s private lotto distribution network and strengthen oversight of retail lottery activity.

Official notice from Ghana’s NLA on the mandatory registration of lotto agents and writers.

The NLA official notice states: “Any agent or writer who has not registered by May 31 2026 cannot sell lotto or lottery products in Ghana, and a dedicated NLA Compliance Team will be deployed to ensure full enforcement.” The regulator summarised the enforcement policy with a clear message to operators: “No Sticker, No Sales.”

As part of the process, agents must complete registration through a dedicated online platform and pay a GHS250 (€20) fee to obtain an official compliance sticker. The sticker must then be displayed prominently at kiosks or sales containers so that players and NLA compliance teams can verify that the seller is authorised to operate.

The registration requirement forms part of the NLA’s broader push to improve accountability within Ghana’s lottery sector, as the regulator seeks to ensure that only authorised agents are permitted to sell lotto products across the country.
