Charity poker night with SA celebs raises R100K for childhood cancer support

Celebs swap red carpets for poker chips as R100,000 is raised at a glitzy, star-studded event.

South Africa.- It was a night of high stakes, hot hands and even bigger hearts as South Africa’s celebrity elite gathered for a one-of-a-kind Charity Poker evening. It was hosted by World Sports Betting at the opulent Daytona Motors showroom in Melrose, Johannesburg.

The exclusive, invitation-only event, turned the luxury car dealership into a high-energy poker arena where fame met philanthropy in the inaugural ‘Poker For A Purpose’ tournament.

The guest list sparkled with some of Mzansi’s most recognisable names – hip hop powerhouses Cassper Nyovest and K.O; football legends Morgan Gould and Junior Khanye; DJ Warren; influencer Faith Nketsi and rising star Ghost Hlubi – all stepping away from their day jobs to champion causes close to their hearts.

According to TshisaLIVE, each celeb headlined a table with seven guests, playing not just for bragging rights, but to win R100,000 ($5,300) for the charity of their choice.

“I’m gambling here for a good cause: to make a difference in somebody’s life. But I’m preaching for responsible gambling. I’m happy to be here with great people,” Nyovest reportedly told the publication.

Bets that could change lives

The tournament wasn’t just about the cards. It was a night buzzing with camaraderie, competition and cause-driven energy. From bluffing with purpose to calling bets that could change lives, the stars lit up the room with more than just their celebrity glow.

In the end, it was Faith Nketsi and her table who clinched the win, securing a cool R100,000 for the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC) – a charity dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and life-threatening blood disorders.

With poker faces and purpose in perfect alignment, the event proved that when South Africa’s stars ante up for good, everyone wins.
