Atlantic City’s casino workers ratifies agreement
Next Thursday, Union members will vote for the ratification or the rejection of the Tropicana casino agreement.
US.- Last week three Caesars’ casinos, Caesars Atlantic City, Bally’s Atlantic City and Harrah’s Resort reached an agreement involving US$44 million worth of contracts with Unite Here Local 54, largest casino workers union in the city. On Monday, the members of the group have ratified the deal, described as one of the best in the history by the union.
The further project with Tropicana Atlantic City, operated by Carl Icahn, will be determined next Thursday, when Union members at the casino vote on their new contract. Icahn’s company is currently in talks with casino workers for the strike in its other Atlantic City casino, the Taj Mahal.
Once the Union workers ratified every agreement, the companies will release the terms of the millionaire deals. Local 54 is composed by 9,600 workers, among bartenders, servers, porters and other hospitality workers, 5,000 of them will be covered with the agreements between the Union and Tropicana, Caesars, Bally’s and Harrah.
