Washington DC sports betting handle and revenue drop in December
Gross gaming revenue from sports betting in Washington DC reached $1.4m in December 2021, while sportsbooks generated a $19.3m handle.
US.- Washington DC sportsbooks saw revenue of $1.4m in December, down 48.2 per cent from $2.7m in December 2020 and down 65.9 per cent from the record $4.4m in November 2021. Player spending on sports betting was also down at $19.2m, a 10.3 per cent drop from November’s $21.4m handle.
Gambet, operated by the DC Lottery and powered by Intralot, led the ranking with $665,718 in revenue off a handle of $5m. Caesars, which operates an online mobile sportsbook and a retail sportsbook at the Capital One Arena, ranked second with $575,583 in revenue, despite a much higher handle of $11.4m.
Grand Central Restaurant, Bar and Sportsbook, posted $91,709 off a handle of $735,386. Meanwhile, BetMGM, active in DC via a partnership with Major League Baseball team the Washington Nationals, posted $68,615 in revenue after players wagered $2.2m.
For the fiscal year to date, revenue for the three months through to the end of December was $7.4m, with handle reaching $66.9m.
