UKGC fines bookmaker Mark Jarvis

The gambling commission said that the operator has to pay a penalty package for customer interaction failures.

UK.- The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) revealed on Tuesday that bookmaker Mark Jarvis has been forced to pay €106k and overhaul its social responsibility procedures after failing to protect a customer that showed signs of addiction.

The operator failed to follow the rules over a period of 19 months when a customer showed erratic traits, including spending more than €38k on B2 gaming machines in one specific betting shop. The UKGC has encouraged operators to read the regulatory settlement for this bookmaker to avoid future penalties.

Richard Watson, Gambling Commission Executive Director, said: “This case is a clear example of why gambling operators must have and implement effective social responsibility policies and procedures. All operators, regardless of size, need to ensure they really know their customers.”
