UK officials against the delay
UK Labour group demands faster response on regulations for the FOBTs sector.
UK.- As the government announced a delay for the national probe on gaming activities, the Labour group presented several complaints. The UK authorities are determined to regulate the fixed-odd betting terminals this years, but the investigation result was postponed to October due the general elections.
“It is a disgrace that the human cost of fixed odds betting terminals appears less important than the tax trousered by the Treasury from gamblers who can ill afford their losses,” said leader of the Labour group on Medway council, Vince Maple, according to Kent News.
The political group is demanding further answers on the issue, as the first deadline was set for earlier this year. “It is not only vital that the Department for Culture Media and Sport publishes its review without further delay, but that appropriate legislation to tackle this scourge is not far behind,” he added. “How many more lives must be blighted before this menace is tackled?”
British authorities have been implementing harsh policies against the gaming industry. In the last six month, operators and bookmakers have been under a federal probe to register, measure and approve stricter rules this year. However, as the Prime Minister has called for a vote by mid-year, the current officials will have to wait until next autumn to decide how to continue the discussion.
