Gambling Regulators European Forum announces board changes
Tim Miller and Jean-Michel Costes have stepped down from the GREF board.
France.- The Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF) has announced key changes to its board. Two long-serving members have stepped down with two new officers taking up positions in the organisation, which brings together national gambling regulators from across Europe and other jurisdictions to promote cooperation, information sharing and the exchange of regulatory best practice.
GREF confirmed that its former treasurer Tim Miller has stepped down from its board due to his departure from his role as executive director of the British Gambling Commission this month. During his time with GREF, Miller represented the British regulator through a period of significant change in the gambling sector, including the implementation of wide-ranging reforms to online gambling regulation and affordability measures.
Ian Angus, the British Gambling Commission’s director of policy, has been appointed as GREF’s new treasurer, succeeding Miller in the role. Angus has played a central role in policy development since 2020. His work has included involvement in the Gambling Act white paper and the implementation of recommendations relating to financial risk assessments.
The appointment maintains representation from the UK regulator on the GREF board at a time of wider leadership changes within the Gambling Commission. Ruth Evans was recently appointed chair of the regulator, which is currently seeking a new CEO following the departure of Andrew Rhodes in April.
Meanwhile, Jean-Michel Costes has left the GREF board following the conclusion of his role with France’s Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ). His tenure coincided with increased efforts by regulators across Europe, including the ANJ, to strengthen player protection measures and impose tighter controls on gambling advertising.
GREF has named Olivia Petit as its new board secretary. Petit is an associate professor at KEDGE Business School, where her academic research focuses on consumer behaviour in digital environments and the impact of emerging technologies.
