Early betting markets open for 2026 Dubai World Cup

Forever Young leads at -225 in the $12m headline race; Pyromancer favourite at +225 for the UAE Derby.

Betting operators have begun offering early odds for key races linked to the 2026 Dubai World Cup meeting, scheduled for March 28 at Meydan Racecourse in the UAE.

Now in its 30th edition, the Dubai World Cup remains one of the most prestigious fixtures in international horse racing, featuring nine top-tier races with a total prize purse of $30.5m.

The meeting is headlined by the Group 1 race, which alone carries a $12m prize over a distance of 2,000 metres. Opening markets have positioned Japan-trained Forever Young as the clear favourite at -225. The five-year-old is widely regarded as the best dirt horse globally, following a standout victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, where he defeated top American contenders.

Magnitude ranks as the nearest challenger at +600, with Meydaan at +750 and Imperial Emperor at +900. Hit Show is priced at +1000, alongside Tumbarumba at +1200, while Walk of Stars sits at +5000 and others at +6000 and beyond.

Attention is also on the Group 2 UAE Derby on the same card, a key qualifying fixture on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. The race, run over a distance of 1,900 metres, offers 100 qualifying points to the winner, a $1m prize, and an automatic starting place at Churchill Downs.

Early odds place Pyromancer as the frontrunner at +225, followed by Six Speed at +275 and Salloom at +350. Devon Island is priced at +800, with Labwah at +1000. Further down the market, Brotherly Love and Wonder Dean are both listed at +1200, while other selections are priced at +2500 and above.

Market positions remain fluid at this stage, with further movement expected as more information emerges in the lead-up to the event.
