Dubai World Cup 2026: Preparations intensify for landmark 30th edition
The upcoming running of the Dubai World Cup will celebrate three decades of the global racing spectacle with a US$30.5m prize pool, nine elite races and a major entertainment programme at Meydan Racecourse on March 28.
Preparations are underway in Dubai for the 30th edition of the Dubai World Cup, set to take place on March 28, at Meydan Racecourse, marking a significant milestone for one of the world’s most prestigious horse racing events.
The anniversary edition of the international horse racing event will feature a total prize pool of US$30.5m across nine races, maintaining its status as one of the richest and most prestigious fixtures in global racing.
Organised under the vision originally established by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the meeting remains the pinnacle of the UAE’s horse racing season and a major draw for international owners, trainers and jockeys.
The Dubai Racing Club said preparations for the anniversary edition are continuing as scheduled, with organisers expecting to welcome the global racing community to the Meydan venue later this month.
Milestone edition with global attention
The 2026 running carries added significance as it marks three decades since the race was first staged in 1996, reinforcing the event’s role as a flagship fixture in the international racing calendar and a major sporting attraction for the emirate.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has also highlighted the race as a key event for the city’s tourism and hospitality sectors, positioning it as part of the emirate’s broader strategy to host world-class sporting events.
The race meeting culminates with the Dubai World Cup main event, contested over 2,000m on dirt, following a full evening programme of top-tier international races.
Beyond the racing programme, the event also incorporates a large-scale entertainment component. American pop artist Jason Derulo has been announced as the headline performer for the post-race concert, scheduled to take place after the final race of the evening.
Hospitality and race-day experience
Meydan will offer a wide range of hospitality and viewing options for racegoers, ranging from general admission tickets to premium hospitality packages and private suites overlooking the track.
General admission access starts at AED40 (US$10.8), while hospitality experiences extend from terrace seating and themed lounges to high-end VIP offerings such as the Royal Enclosure and premium dining venues.
