Canada.- PointsBet Canada has joined the National Hockey League Alumni Association (NHLAA) as their exclusive sports betting partner in Canada and official partner in the US.

The deal begins immediately and will give PointsBet Canada NHLAA and NHL Alumni marketing and licensing rights.

Nic Sulsky, Chief Commercial Officer of PointsBet Canada said: “The NHL Alumni Association has always been at the top of our list as PointsBet entered Canada. Saturday night hockey is an institution from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

“Being able to partner with the likes of Paul Coffey, Nicklas Lidstrom, Mike Vernon and the countless other NHL Alumni that skated across our screens will allow us to deliver the authentically Canadian gaming experience that we want to bring sports fans.”

Scott Vanderwel, Chief Executive Officer of PointsBet Canada added: “We are fully supportive of government efforts to create a regulated gaming environment because it will create a level-playing field that not only protects consumers, but eliminates the illegal and grey market.

“We are thrilled to be able to join the NHLAA to use our collective voice to promote safe wagering as a legal operator.”

Glenn Healy, President and Executive Director of the NHLAA commented: “What made the partnership with PointsBet Canada so attractive was their appreciation of what makes our Alumni unique.

“From the very beginning, PointsBet Canada understood our mission at the NHLAA, which is to ‘Honour the Past’ and provide hope and help for all NHL Alumni and their families. I am thrilled that they will also be embracing our players’ roots and hometowns across the country where their NHL dreams began.”

PointsBet’s expansion into Canada was powered after the launch of single-event sports betting in the country, after Bill C-18 was passed through Canada’s senate in June.

In September, PointsBet Canada signed a multi-year deal to become Daily Faceoff’s official and exclusive sports betting partner, with presence on ice hockey Dailyfaceoff’s site and integrated into The Nation Network and its collection of affiliated sites.

In October, the firm agreed to become the official and exclusive sports betting partner of Curling Canada. The firm will also sponsor the Curling Canada Season of Champions event during the 2022-23 season. It also partnered with Canada’s national curling champions Team Kerri Einarson and Team Kevin Koe.
