Pennsylvania gaming revenue increases year-over-year in January

Revenue increased 11.6 per cent year-over-year but decreased 5.2 per cent from December.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has reported that the combined revenue generated by gaming and fantasy contests was $590.6m in January. That’s an increase of 11.6 per cent year-over-year but down 5.2 per cent from December 2025. Tax revenue was $250m. 

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the market with $111.5m in revenue, up 20.2 per cent year-over-year. It was followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $104.8m in revenue, up 8.2 per cent. Rivers Casino Philadelphia posted $57.2m, an increase of 11.6 per cent, and Parx Casino reported $54.5m, up 6.6 per cent.

Retail slot revenue was $189.1m, a 0.67 per cent increase year-over-year. The number of slot machines in operation was 24,161 compared to 24,388 in January 2025. Retail table games revenue totalled $75.8m, up 2.8 per cent. Slots generated $95.6m in tax revenue and table games $12.8m.

Online gaming generated record monthly gross revenue of $249.3m, up 18.6 per cent from the same period in 2025. Online slots generated $194.8m, online table games $52m, and online poker $2.5m. Tax revenue from online gaming was $113.9m.

The sports betting handle was $782.4m, down 10.4 per cent year-over-year. Taxable revenue was $71.4m, up 38.6 per cent.

The PGCB’s preliminary figures show $59.3m wagered on the Super Bowl through retail and online sportsbooks in the Commonwealth. That’s a 41.6 per cent decrease over wagers placed for the 2025 Super Bowl ($101.5m).

Pennsylvania gaming revenue reached a record high of $6.8bn in 2025, up by 10.7 per cent from 2024. The growth was primarily driven by the igaming sector, which saw revenue climb to $2.7bn, up 28.6 per cent year-on-year.
