Palace Station to be unionised
The company reached an agreement with the National Labor Relations Board and its workers are now unionised.
US.- Station Casinos has reached an agreement with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to unionise the Palace Station. The union campaigned for a new court vote last year after it lost by four votes.
The company was accused of illegall practices to maintain its workers out of an union: according to News3LV, the casino offered benefits to some of its workers during the weeks where the subject was discussed. Las Vegas regional director of the NLRB said that he would pursue an order for Station Casinos to correct these violations. in response to this accusation, the company agreed to settle charges and let its workers be part of the union.
“Rather than engage in lengthy, disruptive and distracting proceedings, the company has decided that it would be in its best interests to proceed with negotiations with the union as the collective bargaining representative at Palace Station for the eligible bargaining unit team members at that property,” said the company to Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Geoconda Arguello-Kline, secretary-treasurer for the Culinary union, said: “We commend the Palace Station workers for their courage and resilience in the face of the company’s massive anti-union campaign. We look forward to starting contract negotiations so that workers can have fair wages, job security and good health benefits.”
