Northwest Indiana casinos see revenue increase
Gaming revenues went up for Northwest Indiana casinos in the start of 2020 as it grew 14.5% year-on-year, reaching US$75.4 million.
US.- “Sporstbooks played a role,” Dan Nita, regional president for Caesars Entertainment said on the industry’s performance starting 2020. The thing is that Northwest Indiana casinos posted increased gaming revenues in January at US$75.4 million.
The figure results in a 14.5% increase from 2019’s US$66 million and got a major boost from sports betting.
Horseshoe Hammond was first at US$34 million (up 19%), Ameristar was second at US$17.9 million (up 10.5%) and Blue Chip third with US$12.23 million (up 8.7% jump). They helped Northwest Indiana casinos post good results at the beginning of 2020.
Sports betting in Indiana
The sports betting segment continues to grow and Indiana has just shown it’s profiting from it. The latest state report revealed local casinos posted US$12 million in revenue during January.
The Indiana Gaming Commission published its Summary of Sports Wagering Tax and reported such results.
According to the document, Ameristar Casino’s sportsbook was the most active. The DraftKings operated venue handled US$66 million and posted just over US$6 million revenue.
Blue Chip casino followed with US$49.5 million handle and US$2.8 million in revenue. The third sports betting venue in Indiana was the Horseshoe Hammond (US$13.7M handle, US$1.8M revenue).
