New York Senate approves bill on sports betting statements

Assembly Bill A10329 now heads to Governor Kathy Hochul’s desk.

US.- The New York Senate has approved Assembly Bill A10329, sending it to governor Kathy Hochul. If signed into law, the bill would make New York the first state to require mobile sports wagering operators to share monthly statements.

Introduced by Assembly Member Rebecca Kassay, the bill proposes to amend the racing, pari-mutuel wagering, and breeding law to require sportsbooks to send customers monthly summaries of their activity. This would include detail on deposits, winnings, losses and wager amounts.

The Senate unanimously approved the proposal by a 61-0 vote after the Assembly passed it by a 143-0 vote in March.

“Equipping New Yorkers with key data surrounding gaming activity and behaviour bolsters informed participation and is critical in reducing problem gambling in our communities. This bill modernises consumer protections to ensure that mobile sports betting platforms operate responsibly in our state while prioritising the well-being of our residents,” Kassay said back in March.

The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) recently launched a campaign about unlawful online gambling, including prediction markets and offshore operators.
