New Mexico to offer game related to sporting events
The state lottery has authorised a new game that will be connected to the outcome of sporting events.
US.- The New Mexico Lottery Authority’s board voted unanimously this week in favour of a new game that will be tied to the outcome of sporting events. The game could debut in four to six months in the Land of Enchantment.
Lottery CEO David Barden said that the lottery’s sports game will generate US$30 million a year, with US$9 million of that going directly to the lottery-funded tuition-assistance program for New Mexico college students.
The state debuted its sports betting market last month, as Santa Ana Star Casino & Hotel launched its casino sports book on October 16. Studies released this week show that sports betting in New Mexico could bring more than US$1 billion every year.
While details of the game are still being developed, officials said that it will involve a parlay-like wager, AP reported. Players will choose possible outcomes of at least three sporting events and they will have to pick all correctly to win.
