Mississippi sports betting handle decreases year-over-year in October

The handle was down 7.45 per cent year-over-year.

US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) has released its sports wagering report for October. The totalled $39.3m, down 7.45 per cent year-over-year but up slightly from September’s $39.1m.

The Coastal region reported a $26.6m handle, representing more than half of the total handle in the state. The Central region generated $8.3m and the Northern region $4.4m.

Taxable revenue was $4.1m. The Coastal region’s taxable revenue was $2.1m. Football generated a $15.6m handle and $580,641 in taxable revenue, followed by basketball with $1m in bets and $74,699 in taxable revenue. Baseball generated a $1.2m handle and $42,528 in taxable revenue.

The Central region generated $1.3m in taxable revenue. Football led the market with a $2.7m handle and $247,821 in taxable revenue. Basketball generated a $552,215 handle and $181,457 in taxable revenue and baseball $418,424 and $9,569.

In the Northern region, taxable revenue was $672,544. Football generated a $1.7m handle and $217,476 in taxable revenue, basketball $285,189 and $33,718 and baseball $277,343 and $4,370.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gaming Hall in Tunica, Mississippi, recently closed its doors after more than 30 years. Operator Boyd Gaming said the decision was a result of market conditions.
