Mississippi sports betting handle decreases in January
The handle declined 13.7 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) has released its sports wagering report for January. The handle was $36.7m, down 13.7 per cent year-over-year.
The regulator breaks revenue down across three regions: Central, Coastal, and Northern. The Coastal region reported $25.9m in bets, representing nearly 70 per cent of the total handle in the state. The Central region generated $7.3m and the Northern region $3.5m. Taxable revenue was $4m.
The Coastal region reported $2m in taxable revenue. Football generated a $12.2m handle and $25,482 in taxable revenue, basketball generated $6.2m handle and $577.583 and Parlay cards $2.8m and $618,656.
In the Central region, taxable revenue was $1.3m. Parlay cards generated a $2.8m handle and $847,800 in taxable revenue, while basketball generated $2.5m handle and $179,367 and football $1.8m and $208,244.
The Northern region reported $752,970 in taxable revenue. Football generated a $1.1m handle and $226,939 in taxable revenue, parlay cards $1.2m handle and $394,703 and basketball $1m and $113,722.
Casinos generated $189m in adjusted gross gaming revenue in January, up 4.9 per cent year-over-year. The Coastal region reported $131.2m in adjusted gross gaming revenue, more than 60 per cent of the total. The Central region generated $24.3m, and casinos in the Northern region $33.5m.
