Virginia sports betting handle declines in January

US.- The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for January. The handle was $687.9m, down 6.7 per cent year-over-year and 3.3 per cent from December 2025.

According to the report, adjusted gross revenue (AGR) was $75.2m. Of the total, mobile operators registered $74.9m and retail $324,385.

Winnings totalled $608.4m, with a combined 11.5 per cent operators’ win percentage. Of the thirteen mobile operators and three casinos, ten reported net positive AGR, leading to $11.2m in tax payments for the month.

Revenue from the five casinos in the state was $81m in January. That’s an increase of 12 per cent year-over-year. Of the total casino revenue, slots generated $61m and table games $20m. The state collected $14.6m in taxes paid to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
