Maryland sports betting handle increases in June

The handle was up 5 per cent year-over-year.

US.- Maryland’s sports betting handle totalled $403.8m in June. That’s up 5 per cent year-over-year.

According to figures released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA), $396.2m was spent online and $7.7m at retail sportsbooks. Players won $436.7m and the taxable win was $46.3. Sports betting generated $9.2m in contributions to the state.

Under the Budget Reconciliation and Finance Act (House Bill 352), mobile operators’ contribution to the state increase from 15 to 20 per cent of taxable proceeds from June 1.

For June, the entire 20 per cent contribution goes to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. From July, 15 per cent will go to the Blueprint fund and 5 per cent to the General Fund. Retail wagering facilities continue to contribute 15 per cent of taxable proceeds to the Blueprint fund.

For the full year, sports wagering contributed $88.9m to the state in 2025 (July 2024 through June 2025), compared to $60.3m the year prior.

Maryland casino revenue decreases in June

Maryland’s six casinos generated $160.6m in revenue from slot machines and table games in June. That’s a drop of 1.4 per cent year-over-year and 9 per cent from May.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission reported that MGM National Harbor led the market with $67.1m in revenue, down 1.4 per cent year-over-year. It was followed by Live! Casino & Hotel, which reported $58.9m, down 2.4 per cent, and Horseshoe Casino with $14.2m, up 0.8 per cent.
