Maryland casino revenue decreases in January
Revenue decreased 2.6 per cent year-over-year.
US.- Maryland’s six casinos generated $147.8m in revenue from slot machines and table games in January. That’s a decrease of 2.6 per cent year-over-year and of 7.4 per cent sequentially.
According to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission, MGM National Harbor led the market with $61.8m in revenue, down 8.5 per cent year-over-year. It was followed by Live! Casino & Hotel, with revenue of $56.3m, up 2.2 per cent.
Horseshoe Casino reported $12.3m in revenue, down 7.8 per cent; Hollywood Casino $6.8m, up 3.8 per cent, Ocean Downs Casino $6.4m, up 13.2 per cent, and Rocky Gap Casino $3.9m, an increase of 19.4 per cent.
Casino gaming contributions to the state totalled $63.9m, an increase of 0.4 per cent compared to January 2025. That included $46.1m to the Education Trust Fund, up 0.2 per cent.
Through the first seven months of fiscal year 2026 (July 2025 through January 2026), casino gaming revenue was $1.1bn, down 1.9 per cent compared to the same period in fiscal year 2025. Contributions to the state were $479.5m, down 1.2 per cent.
Maryland sports betting handle decreases year-on-year in December
Maryland’s sports betting handle totalled $636.2m in December, a decrease of 0.2 per cent year-over-year and a decrease of 11.6 per cent from November 2025. Of the total, $626m was bet online and $10.2m at retail. Winnings totalled $555.6m.
Through the first six months of fiscal year 2026 (July 2025 through December 2025), sports wagering contributions to the state have totalled $78.6m, up 68.8 per cent compared to the same six-month period in the previous fiscal year.
As of the end of December, Maryland had 11 retail sportsbook locations and 12 mobile sportsbooks operating after The Canton Gaming retail sportsbooks in Canton and Pikesville ceased operations on December 14.
