Kenner’s Treasure Chest Casino may move its operation to land after the City Council approved a new lease agreement with the casino.

US.- The Kenner City Council has approved a new lease with the Treasure Chest Casino, which will allow the venue to move to land.

The casino is set on a riverboat at the city just west of New Orleans but could now leave the water for a land-based site – it’s own parking lot.

The new lease is for 25 years and has five possible 10-year renewals.

Boyd Gaming‘s Treasure Chest Casino is a major revenue contributor for the city. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, it contributed $3.6m a year. The city expects the gaming venue to contribute $3.7m for the 2021-22 budget.

“The numbers of passengers and visitors will go up, the amount of people will go up,” Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn said. “That helps capital projects in the city, that helps the police.”
