US.- The Mississippi House of Representatives voted in favour of an amendment added to Senate Bill 2541 that would create a state lottery. This amendment would also legalise fantasy sports betting in Mississippi.
The taxes on revenue for both activities would be allocated in public education, county road and bridge maintenance.
Back in 1992, Mississippi voters chose to legalise the possibility of a state lottery, however, many lawmakers opposed the games of chance based on religious beliefs or moral grounds.
Now the legislation goes to the state Senate. Bills regarding these activities has died in the Senate before, but the original bill, minus the amendment, was penned by Senator Sean Tindell, which may change the trend.
