Kansas Crossing discusses license

The developers presented their oral arguments over a case that started mid 2016.

US.- The state Supreme Court scheduled a hearing earlier this month, with the intention of discussing a lawsuit that involves the upcoming Southeast Kansas casino, Kansas Crossing. The developers presented their arguments last week.

Kansas Crossing, along with the state lottery board, is being sued by the Cherokee County Commission and Castle Rock Casino after the former was granted the fourth and final license in June 2015. Even though Castle Rock’s proposal was much more consistent and it was supposed to attract half million more visitors than the one who was granted the license, the lottery board decided that Kansas Crossing Casino was a more fitting decision.

Despite not having a date set to hear the Court’s resolution, the Mayor John Ketterman believes that the delay sought by the lawsuit would only bring sever economic problems for years. According to Topeka Capital-Journal, he also said that it would be a setback to the spirits of southeast Kansans who need this project after the many unanticipated challenges they’ve faced recently. Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel is set to open in in the Southeast Kansas Gaming Zone in March. The US$70 million facility is still on track to open on schedule.
