Indiana’s Four Winds South Bend Casino to host hiring event
The venue expects to create hundreds of new jobs when its expansion is completed in 2023.
US.- The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi’s Four Winds Casinos will hire more employees for its Four Winds South Bend, in Indiana. The casino, which is being expanded, will host a job fair at Four Winds Field, on July 20.
The expansion of Four Winds South Bend has created 350 construction jobs and the renovated casino resort will create an additional 350 to 400 new jobs when construction finishes in the first quarter of 2023. A recruitment centre has been set up.
The July 20 hiring event, which will take place at 501 South Street in South Bend, will seek to fill positions such as bartenders, cashiers, services representatives, casino housekeepers, table games dealers, maintenance engineers, slot floor, gaming technicians, and security. There are both part-time and full-time positions with benefit packages.
The company will also offer a paid table games dealer training programme. The training will begin in August and will continue for six weeks. Participants will learn how to deal blackjack, three card poker and Mississippi stud.
The expansion is due to open in the first quarter of 2023. The project includes the addition of 45,000-square-feet of gaming space to the existing 140,000 square feet. The venue offers 317 hotel rooms featuring 83 suites, an expanded gaming floor, a spa, convention area with a ballroom and meeting space, a cafe, an outdoor swimming pool, and terraces with spectacular views.
The project was first announced in September 2019 but was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and workforce challenges. In August 2021, the venue received approval for Class III gaming.
Indiana sports betting handle down to $256.3m in June
Indiana’s sports betting handle for June was $256.3m. That’s 17per cent lower than May’s $308.4m, but 4 per cent higher year-on-year. It’s the first time in ten months that the handle came in below $300m.
According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, Indiana bookmakers generated $15.8m in taxable revenue for June – a hold of 6.2 per cent. The numbers were lower than May, when operators generated with $30.7m in taxable revenue and a hold of 10 per cent.
