German state analyses gambling regulations
The new government is trying to change the federal treaty in order to achieve a better regulatory scheme.
Germany.- The Green Party, the Christian Democratic Union and the Free Democratic Party created a coalition in Germany called the “Jamaica coalition” after failing to achieve a single majority party. The new coalition wants to change the current regulatory scheme.
Jamaica would allegedly ignore the State Treaty on Gambling in order to create more freedom when it comes to gambling regulations. As reported by LNonline, the coalition released a fiscal policy on Thursday that includes the statement that the state, Schleswig-Holstein, is planning on following its own gambling legislation.
The three party coalition wants to partner up with Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland Palatinate on a new regulatory scheme that is based on the law that was valid in the German state until 2013. The country’s treaty has been subject to a revision from three professors in the country that analysed the market for six months.
“Only when online gambling is legalised can the State achieve a number of goals: protecting players, combating gambling addiction and preventing the manipulation of sports. This is exactly where the current legislation fails, along so many lines,” said Professor Haucap.
