FDJ appoints Nadia Faure as M&A director

The French lottery operator has named Nadia Faure as director of investor relations and M&A.

France.- The French lottery operator La Française des Jeux (FDJ) has named Nadia Faure as its director of investor relations and M&A.

Faure, who has been with FDJ since 2018, will take on responsibility for communications with the group’s investors and for its mergers and acquisitions strategy. She previously served as chief of staff to chief executive Stéphane Pallez.

Before joining FDJ, she was an equity manager for the French State Participation Agency (APE), which oversees businesses that the French state holds a stake in, including FDJ. She also served on the mergers and acquisitions team at investment bank Mediobanca.

FDJ went public with an IPO in 2019. For the first quarter of 2021, it reported a 5.2 per cent rise in revenue year-on-year despite restrictions on retail operations due to France’s Covid-19 countermeasures. 

Revenue for the quarter reached €537.6m, with gross gaming revenue up by 5.1 per cent at €525.9m and revenue from other activities up 10.7 per cent at €11.8m. 

Stakes increased by 11.8 per cent year-on-year to €4.6bn. Stakes in sports betting were up by 46.1 per cent year-on-year at €1.1bn.

Last month, FDJ appointed Andy Wright to replace Simon Trim as CEO of its Sporting Group subsidiary.

Sporting Group runs FDJ’s B2C spread betting brand Sporting Index and supplies odds, software, trading and risk management services through its Sporting Solutions B2B arm.

The French lottery operator also announced a series of boardroom changes at the start of the year.

FDJ announces funding for women’s sports projects

FDJ has announced funding for five women’s sport projects in France. It will provide funds to the French Boxing Federation, the French Roller and Skateboard Federation and the French Rowing Federation to fund performance studies.

It will also provide funds to the French Sailing Federation and the French Federation of Ice Sports for new equipment and support for training.
