Dutch gambling regulator issues penalty order against Gamusoft LP
The KSA says the operators allowed gambling in the Netherlands without a licence.
The Netherlands.- The Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has issued a penalty payment order against Gamusoft LP for offering illegal gambling to Dutch players via the website csgofast.com.
The regulator has demanded that the operator, which gives a registered address in Ipswich, UK, stop allowing access to the site from the Netherlands. If the company does not comply, a penalty payment of €280,000 per week will be imposed up to a maximum of €840,000.
The KSA said that on the website under investigation, it was possible to create a player account from the Netherlands and to make deposits and participate in the gambling offered. It found no technical measures to prevent participation from the Netherlands.
“The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players,” the KSA said. “The KSA therefore takes tough action against illegal supply. With an order subject to penalty, illegal supply is often quickly stopped. Providers can be fined for the period in which the illegal supply was available.”
KSA fine for failure to protect young adult players
Earlier this month, the KSA issued a record €734,000 fine against a Dutch gambling licensee because the company failed to adequately protect young adults against excessive gambling and gambling addiction. In the investigation, a selection of 10 of its player files with the largest losses was examined. Violations were found in all 10 files.
These were young adult players (18 to 23 years old) who gambled away tens of thousands of euros in often a relatively short period of time, the KSA said.
