Detroit casinos report $101.6m in September revenue
Table games and slots generated $100m and retail sports betting $1.6m.
US.- Detroit’s three casinos generated $101.6m in monthly revenue for September, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Table games and slots generated $100m and retail sports betting $1.6m.
Table games and slot revenue decreased by 4.4 per cent when compared to the previous month and by 0.8 per cent compared to September 2022. MGM Grand Detroit Casino accounted for 44 per cent of the market share, MotorCity Casino 31 per cent and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 25 per cent.
Hollywood Casino at Greektown reported a 15 per cent gain year-on-year with $24.3m in gaming revenue. MGM’s revenue declined 7.6 per cent to $44.7m and Motor City’s fell 1.1 per cent to $31m.
The three Detroit casinos paid $8.1m in taxes to the State of Michigan. That compares to $8.2m for the same month last year. The casinos submitted $12.3m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
The three Detroit casinos reported $18.1m in retail sports bets. Total gross receipts were $1.6m. Retail sports betting qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) were down by 39.4 per cent compared to September 2022. September QAGR was up by $1.3m compared to August 2023.

The casinos paid $59,533 in gaming taxes to the state and reported submitting $72,763 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit based on retail sports betting revenue. From January 1 through September 30, the casinos’ table games and slots revenue was up 0.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
