The launch comes just ahead of the opening of legal sports betting and online casino gambling.

US.- With legal sports betting and online casino gambling in Connecticut about to go live, the Department of Consumer Protection has launched a voluntary self-exclusion programme.

The programme allows players to either set limits or join a voluntary self-exclusion that can entail a cooling-off period or a lifetime ban.

Michelle Seagull, the consumer protection commissioner, said: “We built into the regulations a lot of ways for people to start recognizing just how much they’re doing.”

Rep. Maria Horn, D-Salisbury, co-chair of the Public Safety & Security Committee, which has jurisdiction over gambling legislation, has said that legislators will take another look at the level of consumer protections.
