Yokohama to host a IR symposium

Yokohama city has announced an event to discuss its integrated resort bid and promote the project to residents.

Japan.- Yokohama city is to host a public symposium to discuss its intended IR bid.

Yokohama intends to bid for one of three casino resort licences that Japan intends to grant next year, but opposition has been mounting among residents. The symposium intends to offer more information to allay people’s concerns.

Authorities said: “We will hold a symposium comprising lectures by experts and panel discussions to promote the understanding of residents about IR. The event will be held online and sufficient measures will be taken against infectious diseases.”

The event is expected to be scheduled for December and will be broadcast live online to allow residents to watch despite Covid-19 measures.

According to the Yokohama City IR Promotion Department, it will include lectures and panel discussions by domestic and overseas experts, mainly regarding concerns such as problem gambling.
