China.- Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited medical workers and patients affected by Coronavirus at Beijing Ditan Hospital. During the visit, he donned a face mask and had his temperature checked.
According to the state broadcaster, CCTV, he said that the situation at the virus epicentre was “still very grave” and asked for “more decisive measures” to contain the spread of the epidemic.
The visit came as a surprise to some as the President has kept a low profile since the Coronavirus outbreak first began.
He appointed Premier Li Keqiang to lead working groups in the fight against the virus. Li recently visited Wuhan City, where the virus originated.
President Xi’s visit happened on Monday and saw him wear a blue mask and white surgical gown while meeting doctors, observing the treatment of patients and speaking via video link to doctors in Wuhan, state media said.
