Travel ban imposed on Cambodia casino district, Sihanoukville
Only ambulances and trucks transporting goods are allowed to go in and out of Cambodia’s gambling capital.
Cambodia.- A travel ban has been imposed on Sihanoukville province in Cambodia, preventing people from entering or leaving the holiday town and casino hub.
The restrictions have been put in place to contain an outbreak of Covid-19 infections. The province currently has 85 cases, including some from overseas and some cases traced back to an outbreak in February.
Under the travel ban, only ambulances and trucks transporting goods are allowed to go in and out of Sihanoukville, local media outlets reported.
A report last October found that the number of foreign visitors in Cambodia had plunged, with an 83 per cent decline in arrivals from mainland China.
In recent years, Sihanoukville has attracted Chinese development projects, many of which are casino resorts as well as live dealer casino gambling video streaming services.
