Synectics signs US$2.5m contract with Philippine casino

The company has signed a deal with a resort in Manila to upgrade the surveillance system.

The Philippines.- The United Kingdom-based provider of security and surveillance technology Synectics has signed a contract to upgrade the surveillance system for an unnamed casino operator in the Philippines. The company said the contract, valued at US$2.5m, “has been secured with a world-class integrated casino resort located in Entertainment City, Manila.” It said the casino had been a customer since 2016.

Synectics will upgrade its proprietary Synergy software at the resort and the existing video surveillance infrastructure. “The work will involve upgrading critical components of the customer’s surveillance system, enhancing its performance, scalability, and long-term resilience,” it said.

The firm also announced a contract with a “tribal gaming property in Oklahoma, North America”, valued at US$600,000. In a press release, the company said the two contracts are valued, in aggregate, at above US$3m.

Amanda Larnder, Synectics’ chief executive and chief financial officer, said: “The upgrade at a world-class resort in Manila reflects the strength of our long-term customer relationships and the ongoing investment by major operators in Synergy’s mission-critical solutions.

“The tribal gaming contract in Oklahoma marks both an important entry into a new market and an early deployment of Synergy’s new AI tools. These orders further underpin the group’s revenue in the current financial year.”

Philippines sees record GGR as e-games and bingo becomes leading segment

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the Philippines was PHP104.12bn (US$1.88bn) for the first quarter. The tally was up 27.44 per cent year-on-year. The e-games and e-bingo segment was the leading revenue generator for the first time, contributing PHP51.39bn (US$927m), or 49.36 per cent of total GGR.

Alejandro H. Tengco, chairman and chief executive officer of PAGCOR, noted that this represented not just revenue growth but “how consumer behavior continues to shift towards digital, on-demand gaming experiences, accelerated by greater access to mobile technology”
