The Australian state is dealing with a new outbreak of Covid-19 cases.

Due to the Omicron variant, authorities in New South Wales have decided to reintroduce QR code check-ins across retail and hospitality venues.

Australia.- Authorities in New South Wales, Australia, have resumed QR code registration for retail and hotel establishments. The measure was taken due to a rise in Covid-19 cases amid the new Omicron variant.

Although registration procedures have been reintroduced, the mandatory wearing of masks has not, nor have social distancing rules. Authorities are studying the possibility of distributing rapid antigen test kits to the public.

In May, authorities had announced that Australia’s international borders would remain closed until at least mid-2022 to avoid the arrival of new Covid-19 cases. Other states such as Queensland, Tasmania and the Capital Territory have now reintroduced the regulations for wearing masks indoors.

Gaming lounges and entertainment facilities in New South Wales were able to reopen last month.
