Macau: Grand Lisboa Palace to open December 20

The company says it will not delay the opening despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Staff will begin working in October.

Macau.- Grand Lisboa Palace casino resort is expected to open on December 20.

The gaming operator SJM recently hosted a job fair to hire people for positions at the new hotel and casino.

Successful applicants have since been told they will start work in October, with a tentative date for the opening of the venue set for December 20.

That would mean the US$5 billion development, which was completed in late 2019, will maintain its expectation to open in 2020 despite the impact of the pandemic.

The venue includes 1,900 hotel rooms from the Grand Lisboa Palace hotel and two other hotel brands, in partnership with luxury fashion houses Palazzo Versace and Karl Lagerfeld. Non-gaming areas will account for 90 per cent of the venue’s space.
