India: Goa casinos to close until May 3
Health professionals had asked the government to temporarily close Goa’s casinos due to an alarming rise in the number of Covid-19 cases.
India.- Authorities have decided to close Goa’s casinos from April 29 until May 3 after medical professionals called for the closure since the offshore casinos were not affected by the previous curfew.
The Ministry of Health reported that Goa currently has 15,260 active Covid-19 cases while India as a whole faces an alarming growth in the number of cases.
According to the new countermeasures, Goa’s casinos, hotels and pubs will remain closed while restaurants will only be allowed to operate their kitchens for home deliveries.
Public transport will not run and tourists will not be allowed to step out of their hotel rooms.
Delta Corp has recently asked authorities for a waiver on its licence fees as revenues were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
