GRNSW says Lithgow greyhound track upgrade remains on schedule for 2026 launch
Greyhound Racing NSW confirmed that racing is expected to begin later this year.
Australia. Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has provided an update on the multi-million-dollar redevelopment of the Lithgow Greyhound Club. It says the project remains on track ahead of its anticipated opening later in 2026.
According to GRNSW acting CEO Brian Charman, construction of the new racetrack is now around 75 per cent complete, despite some early obstacles during the development phase.
The project was launched in December 2025 by NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing David Harris alongside local and industry representatives. GRNSW said development approval has now been granted for new lighting infrastructure, a judge’s tower and a machinery shed. The venue will also feature a new SafeChase rail and lure system, refurbished kennel blocks and upgraded public amenities.
The lighting upgrade will deliver broadcast-standard illumination averaging 900 lux, while the modular judge’s tower will support stewards, race officials and broadcasters.
GRNSW also confirmed plans to rebuild the maintenance shed and improve the venue’s main entrance.
