Argentina launches VAT legislation for gambling operators

A Value Added Tax (VAT) of up to 27% could be imposed on offshore operators.

Argentina.- A new piece of legislation introduced by the government looks to tax offshore digital service providers, inluding gambling companies.

The services more likely to feel the impact of the legislation include: downloading or streaming media and games; software provided over the cloud; web hosting; and mobile apps.

The Argentinian Senate passed the proposal shortly after Christmas with president Mauricio Macri signing the bill into law straight away.
