Zimbabwe.- Zimbabwe’s Casino Marina is set to screen the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup between South Africa and Mexico, as the Harare-based gaming and entertainment venue looks to capitalise on heightened interest in the tournament.

In an announcement shared through Casino Marina’s official social media channels, the operator said the opening ceremony and opening fixture will be shown live on the venue’s big screen, with additional group-stage and knockout matches scheduled to be screened during casino operating hours. Food and beverage promotions will also accompany the screenings.

Beyond the World Cup screenings, Casino Marina offers a combination of gaming, dining and entertainment experiences. The venue features table games and slot machines alongside restaurant and bar facilities, reflecting the integrated entertainment model adopted by many gaming operators across the region.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup begins in Mexico City on June 11 and is the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 participating nations. The competition is being hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

South Africa’s participation in the tournament opener provides gaming and hospitality businesses with an opportunity to engage football fans through live sports entertainment and communal viewing experiences.

The World Cup screenings form part of a wider industry trend of operators leveraging major sporting events to attract customers.
